Ausia (اوسیاہ) is a village within the Union Council of Dewal in Murree Tehsil (مری), Rawalpindi District, Pakistan. It borders Union Councils of Rawat and Phagwari. It is located at 33°59'0N, 73°28'0E with an altitude of 1712 meters (5620)[1] on Upper Kohala Road. It is from here that the road starts its descent and goes down to Birote, Basian upto Kohala, a crossing point into Kashmir. Another road links Ausia with Malkote (Hazara/KP).whosoever has compiled this information has has ignored the actual historical facts and background of the village. up to 50 years ago ausia was divided on the basis of classes, only a few rich influential people dominated the entire political and economical affairs of the village. however in the early 1960's children of the other classes went abroad in search of employment primarily UK and Qatar with that came remmitances which brought prosperity to the village reducing the gap between classes eradicating poverty to a large scale. things now began to improve as the only the man in the entire village known as haji ahsan ul haq (late) changed the entire history of the village by taking along approximately 300 people from all classes of the village and neighbouring villages to saudia this time was a milestone in the history of the village, other people joined the cause which included S.D.O haji iftikhar (late) and Tarik abbasi s/o zafeer khan (late) these three men were the main contributors to the prosperity and advancement of the village.with economical development came along educational development by now education and become a necessity than a luxury. lots of children of the village are now serving and hold prominent positions in the armed forces and working abroad making excellent contributions not only to the economical well being of their village but of the entire country at large.
Ausia is the most educated village in Pakistan, with a literacy rate above 90%. Beyond Murree, it is the only place to have had a governmental Higher Secondary School and a College at Parao.
The school was founded by the end of the 18th century by the British. At the time, it was the only major educational institution catering to the people of lower union councils of Murree. At present the status of the school has changed from that of a secondary one to a higher secondary one. Additionaly there are separate primary and secondary government and private schools for girls.
A link road, Ausia-Dehla Road, which connects the Upper Kohala Road with the Lower Kohala Road, starts from the main bazaar of Ausia. The bazaar, called Parao, once served as a resting place for the troops, especially the high command, enroute to Kashmir. The Summers are extremely pleasant as temperature is quite moderate. The Winters could be very cold with snowfall. Ausia is about 25-30 minutes drive from Murree.Since Independence in 1947, Ausia has only one central Mosque where Friday & Eid congregations are held. Following is a list of notables from the past.
